FOR THOSE ON A SHORT-HAUL BREAK, Air Berlin is the most punctual and Swiss International Air Lines has the most attentive service, but British Airways was this year's favourite mainly because it has the best airport lounges, range of routes and loyalty reward schemes. Those last two qualities also helped the airline glide into the stratosphere for long-haul holidays, a category in which Singapore impresses for its food and service, and Emirates for its eminently calming lounges. That airline also came out top for those wanting to get down to business, just ahead of Qatar, which was recognised for its clock-watching punctuality.
